David Walliams lost his contract with publishing house.

David Walliams

Prolific writer for children and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

A spokesman for the publisher stated: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing additional books by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the conclusion was reached following an investigation into reports of conduct deemed unsuitable directed at young women.

The publisher has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, noting: "We do not comment on confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, having sold over six tens of millions of copies globally in five dozen languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins in 2008.

Some of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have also been adapted into television films.

His bibliography includes in excess of 40 works combined, which features a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

Television and Literature

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE in 2017 honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

This development follows the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
