British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
